ADANA, Turkey
At least six Daesh/ISIS suspects were arrested in an anti-terror operation in southern Turkey, according to a security source on Wednesday.
Anti-terror police teams with the support of special forces in the Adana province launched an operation in various locations against seven members of the terror group who had been operating in Syria and entered Turkey illegally, said the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.
While six of the suspects were arrested, the hunt continues to nab the last suspect, who was not found at his address during the raid, it added.
A large amount of terror group-related digital materials was seized at the addresses during the search.
In 2013, Turkey became one of the first countries to declare Daesh/ISIS a terror group.
The country has since been attacked by the outfit multiple times, with 315 people killed and hundreds more injured in at least 10 suicide bombings, seven bomb attacks, and four armed assaults.
In response, Turkey launched anti-terror operations at home and abroad to prevent further attacks.
